Ripper Cheat Codes
The following is only a partial walk-thru for Act One.
The Library
You will find a list of book call-numbers. To find the book that Renee Stein was reading, you'll have to unscramble the following code: AB[@no_iaid+1]18. Comparing the code to the other call numbers, the solution has to have two letters, four numbers, and one more letter. Stein was looking in the Victorian section, and there's another Victorian book on the list (Get the list from the computer monitor at the murder scene). You then know that the first two letters are: HC. The four numbers are contained withing the square brackets, and they are 2021. And 18 is the 18th letter of the alphabet, which is: R. So, the call number for the missing book is: HC2021R.
Catherine's Apartment
The toughest puzzle, involves crystals and a birth sign. A birthday card, under an abstract fish painting, is dated February 25, which means her birth sign is a Pisces. Later, you'll find a poster with the list of all the birth signs, and Pisces is the twelfth sign. Using the diagram, you place the crystals from the box into the grid below it, to duplicate the constellation's shape. After that, the eyes of the crystal skull will light up, and highlight the spine of a book, which is the password to her Horoscope.
Wofford's Cottage
After talking with Hamilton Wofford's brother, you know that you have to find three vacuum tubes, in order to uncover the password to his well. These tubes are hidden in the house.
The Marble and the Maze
The first puzzle is the marble maze. The five buttons to the right of the maze, adjust the angles of the gates in the maze. You have to line these gates in a way, so the marble will roll straight through to the marked end. The marble starts rolling after three presses. This maze, however, has difficulty difference. If you have it set on easy, then you just have to press the fourth button, followed by any other two. Medium setting, requires you to push the first button, and then the fourth button. The hard difficulty setting, requires you to push a series of numbers. However, there are two series. The first series, is as follows: 5,1,3, then 4,1,5, and 3,4,5. Or, you could use the other series, which is: 1,2,5, then 1,3,5, and 2,3,5.
The Cash Register
On your way up to the bedroom, you'll see a small board on the stairway. P2X255127.5A is the patent number on the board. There is a cash register in the bedroom, which will give you the second vacuum tube, if you press the right coins in the right order. The series, comes from the patent number. Multiply 255127.5 times 2, and you get 510255. This number, represents the coin order. 5-10-25-5 is the order for a nickel, a dime, a quarter, and a nickel. This will give you the second vacuum tube.
The Clocks
Since you are in the Wofford bedroom, go to the broken clock on the dresser, that says 2:35. Go down to the living room, and check out the three clocks on the wall. The Egyptian clock, the German clock, and a U.S. clock. You'll also see a time zone map on the other wall. Since the clock upstairs said 2:35, and you are in the EDT zone, then you use this time, and the Time Zone map, to set the clocks correctly. You put 9:35 in the Egyptian clock, 8:35 in the German clock, and 14:35 in the U.S. clock. This will give you the third and final vacuum tube.
