Xenon Orbital Station 4
My watch began to beep. What do I do?
Look at your watch, and press the c button to get an important message
from Private Fubar Snafu.
How do I get into XOS 4 from the outside?
Just walk up the left wall, and onto the ceiling, then walk onto the platform
to be flipped into XOS 4.
I'm in XOS 4's space preparation room. What do I need to do here?
First of all, go up to the north wall and change into your normal clothes.
You should now have an order form and your dialect translator in your inventory.
After this, go to the east wall and open your locker, then look inside
it. Take both the athletic supporter and cubix rube puzzle inside the locker,
then leave the room through the door on the west wall.
The private told me to go to the shuttle bay and clean up a shuttle. How
do I get there?
Quite simple. Walk onto the yellow and black striped lift to go up to the
walkway above you, then open the door to the transport tube, and get in.
Roger will be sent to the shuttle bay.
When I entered the shuttle, two big goons knocked me out! Was this supposed
to happen?
Yes.
Sludge Vohaul's hovercraft just crashed on the surface of Labion. What
do I do now?
You hear that shrill beeping noise? Walk up to the pod and search it to
find a small button. Push the button to turn off the craft's homing beacon.
Secondly, search the dead Apeoid guard that Roger landed on to find a silver
keycard. Take it, then head north.
I fell into a hidden pit and died!
Don't step on it next time!
Those big mushrooms in the screen east of the hovercraft keep eating me!
Can I do something with them?
Actually, no. Don't go east from the crash site; go north.
Every time I walk away from the hovercraft crash site, Vohaul's ugly apes
somehow find me!
That shrill beeping noise that you heard at the crash site wasn't nothing!
That was the hovercraft's homing beacon, which is making it easier for
the Apeoids to find you. Go back to the site, search the craft, and press
the button you find. If you're talking about the guard who appears one
screen north of the hovercraft, see the next hint.
In the screen north of the crash site, one of Vohaul's goons comes along
on a hovercraft and blows me to smithereens!
You'll just have to avoid him then, won't you? The minute you enter the
screen, move to the right of the big tree in the center of the screen,
and hide behind it, so that no part of Roger's body is visible. Just wait,
the Apeoid will come along shortly, but this time, he won't see you.
I found a cute little beaver-like alien caught in a snare? Is he important?
He sure as hell is! Walk up to him and untie him. He'll be really grateful
and help you later on.
I tripped over some odd blue spores situated on the ground in a clearing,
and was paralyzed for a short while. Are they somehow important?
Yep. Being careful not to trip again, pick one of the unopened spores up.
I came to a big clearing that contained a bunch of blue roots attached
to some pulsating thing, and a clump of berry bushes. Every time I run
into a root, though, the pulsating thing eats me! What can I do here?
You need those berries on the other side of the clearing. You'll have to
navigate through the maze of roots, being careful not to run into one lest
the root monster gobble you up. Save and restore periodically while going
through the roots. When you've made it to the berry bushes, take some of
the putrid smelling red berries, then go back through the roots and exit
the screen.
I've found a lone mailbox on a plateau. What is it for?
It's for mailing items, for heaven's sake! Okay, fine, you mean in the
game. It's just perfect for that mating whistle order form in your pocket.
Stand by the mailbox, type "mail order form", and take the whistle
when it is deposited on the box's tray.
Every time I try to go east through that swamp, some ugly tentacled creature
eats me. How do I prevent this?
The creature seems to like your taste so much; maybe if you could make
yourself taste foul, the monster wouldn't want to eat you. Have you gotten
those red berries from the clearing with the root monster and tried tasting
them? Yuck! That's what you need. Before you enter the swamp, type "rub
berries on self" to give yourself a slightly different taste. The
monster will dislike the taste of the berries and spit you out.
I've found a deep part of the swamp. Is it significant?
Yes. You'll need to dive under the water, and swim downward, then to the
left through the underwater passage, and up into the hidden grotto. Once
there, take the brightly glowing gem resting on the big rock, then dive
back down into the water and swim to the surface of the swamp.
Every time I dive underwater, I suffocate!
Have you ever heard of taking a deep breath? Do this before you dive underwater,
both on the surface of the swamp and in the grotto. Oh, and you'll have
to move quickly underwater, or you'll run out of air!
I can't get past the big chasm to the east of the swamp.
See anything that might form a bridge across? The dead tree would make
a great candidate! Walk up to the tree and climb it to make it crack and
fall across the chasm.
I got caught in a snare to the east of the chasm! Was this preventable?
No. Wait for a little bit while snared and Roger will become unconscious.
Some huge, ugly beast trapped me in a cage and is ready to charbroil me!
You want to get out, do you? Well here's how, but remember to be very quick
in the process. Type "call guard"; this attempt to get the beast's
attention will fail. Type it again, and wait until the beast is close to
the cage, then throw the blue spore at him to paralyze him. Remember, if
you don't move fast enough after this, he'll recover. Get as close as you
can to him from inside the cage, and search him. Take the key you find,
and use it on the cage's lock, then open the cage door and walk out of
it. Before you exit to the north, remember to snag the rope on the rock
by the cage.
I saw a hovercraft leaving the landing platform in the distance, but the
guy piloting it spotted me and a little bit later, another craft took care
of me. How do I avoid being seen?
It's not very hard. You probably walked too far north in the screen; remember,
it's open space where it's easy to spot someone. The minute you enter the
screen, begin walking to the left, and the guy in the hovercraft will not
see you.
After I left the hunter beast's campsite, I was wandering around and found
my way back to the chasm! Where on earth do I go from here?
How about downward? If you didn't get the rope before you left the campsite,
then you're in trouble. At the chasm, type "get on log" and shimmy
to the center of it. At the center, type "tie rope to log", then
type "climb down rope".
At the bottom of the rope, there are two ledges to my left and right. The
problem is, there's a huge gorilla standing on the right ledge. What do
I need to do here?
You definitely don't want to end up on the right ledge here and become
the Kongoid's lunch! You need to end up on the left ledge, which contains
a cave that you need to go into. Start swinging on the rope to build jumping
momentum. Wait until the Kongoid has attempted to grab Roger three times,
then jump to the left ledge using F6 when Roger swings toward it. If you
mess up, just restore.
I was walking in the cave on the left ledge when a huge cave beaver ate
me!
It's pretty dark in there, isn't it? Maybe if you had a light of some sort,
you could scare the beaver away and see where you're headed. You should
have taken the glowing gem from the grotto under the swamp. When you can
see nothing besides Roger's eyes, type use gem to provide a nice light
source.
I fell into the bottom of the canyon, and some pink beaver aliens killed
me with rocks!
They really hate you, don't they? You should have done something earlier
that would have made you their friend, so restore. In the screen to the
northeast of the hovercraft crash site, there was one of those little guys
caught in a snare. Had you untied him, the aliens would not have thrown
the rocks and would have taken you to their leader.
The king of the beavers told me to say the word in order to leave. What's
the word?
Before I answer this, let me remind you to do something. If you haven't
already, go back to the screen where you fell out of the cave, and take
your glowing gem, which is lying by the cave exit. Now for the answer.
Whenever you want, simply type "say the word" (I'm not kidding),
and go down the ladder that is revealed by the beavers.
I'm in complete darkness. What now?
You have to use your glowing gem, of course, but since you're on a ladder,
you can't hold it in your hand. Type "put gem in mouth" to shed
a faint light on the subject.
Where do I go in this confusing maze of ladders and passages?
Okay, here are the directions. Go all the way down the first ladder that
Roger is on, then head east in the passage that you come to until you reach
another ladder. Take this ladder down to where it merges with a passage,
then take the passage east until you reach a third ladder. Go down the
third ladder to where it merges with a passage, then take the passage east
until you reach a fourth ladder. Go down the fourth ladder all the way,
then head west in the passage you reach. Go past the first two ladders
in the passage, and go down the third one to where it merges with another
passage. Take this passage all the way east, and you'll reach a cavern
with some waterfalls.
What do I do in the cave with the waterfalls?
Just take the river east out of the room.
I'm at a fork. Which passage in the river should I take?
Well, just for fun, save your game and try taking the left branch, which
will dump Roger over a waterfall and kill him. It should now be very obvious;
take the right branch!
I went down a whirlpool! Is this supposed to occur?
Yes, it is. Don't think you're dead; you'll be dumped out into some ancient
ruins.
To the right of the pool with the ruins, there's a dead end. How do I get
through?
Notice the large wall of gray stone on the north side of the screen. If
you had someone or something break through the wall for you, you'd be able
to move north to the landing platform. Ever heard of a Labion Terror Beast?
You're about to meet one. Blow the mating whistle from the mailbox to get
one to break through the wall.
The Labion Terror Beast breaks through the wall, but then he sees me and
kills me!
You'll have to get rid of him or distract him somehow. If need be, turn
the speed of the game down as much as possible. Right after the beast breaks
through the wall, type "throw rube to beast", but wait until
he sees you and starts whirling towards you to press the enter key. He'll
snag the cubix rube puzzle that you throw at him, and become distracted
trying to solve it. If you think that this may be too hard, do this: when
the beast enters the screen, walk to the left into the screen with the
pool and ruins, then walk back to the right. The beast will be gone, but
you will not receive points for this solution.
When I go north to the landing platform, I see an Apeoid guarding it. How
do I dispose of him?
For one thing, make sure you don't come out from behind the bush, or he
will see you and shoot you to pieces. Maybe you could shoot something at
him from behind the bush to bump him off. How about using a slingshot?
If you don't have a rock already, go back south and take one from the pile
left behind by the terror beast. Go back to the platform screen and type
"sling rock at guard", then wait until the guard is in the center
of his walkway and is facing toward the bush, then press enter. You'll
creatively use your athletic supporter from your XOS 4 locker to sling
the rock at the guard and smack him in the head.
I can't get in the elevator on the right leg of the landing platform!
That's just too bad! Check your pockets for something that might be useful.
Have you looked at the elevator? There's a thin slot by it. If you had
a keycard to put in the slot, the elevator would open. You should have
searched the body of the guard that Roger landed on when the hovercraft
crashed. The guard was carrying with him the keycard that opens this elevator.
If you don't have the keycard, you'll have to restore. If you do, put it
in the slot, then enter the elevator.
I can't get in the shuttle at the top of the landing platform!
Go to the back and left of the shuttle, then type "enter shuttle".
What do I do once I'm inside Vohaul's transport shuttle?
Rocket off! You don't know how, correct? Well, if I'm not, pardon me. Look
around, and you'll see some noteworthy controls. Press the Power button,
turn the attitude dial, press the Ascent Thrusters button, then look at
the screen, which will tell you to pull the throttle to ascend. Do this
to leave Labion.
I just escaped from the surface of Labion, but I'm now hanging around just
above the planet.
Try pulling the throttle again. When this doesn't work, just wait. Vohaul
will appear on the screens shortly and will automatically pilot you to
his asteroid fortress. Don't try to use the controls after Vohaul has appeared
on screen, unless you enjoy crashing.
I just arrived at Vohaul's asteroid. Where should I go?
Don't go down the stairs just yet. Instead, head right or left to reach
an elevator. Get in whichever elevator you're at, and look around to find
a control panel. Look at the panel, then look at the buttons.
To go to a different floor, say level three, type "press level three
button". After you have visited floors three, four, and five, and
obtained all the items on them, go back to floor one and take the stairs
down to floor two.
I was walking around on one of the asteroid floors when some stupid droid
came along and killed me!
It's the floor sweeper droid, and you'll have to just avoid it. Duck into
the nearest elevator or closet, and wait until the droid passes to come
out.
I'm on level three. What's to be done?
Walk to the screen with the closet door, and walk up to the button by the
door. Push the button, then walk into the janitor's closet. Look around
to find a plunger. Take it, and exit the floor.
I'm on level four. What's important here?
Go to the screen with the closet door, then walk up to the button by the
door and push it. Enter the janitor's closet, and look around to find a
glass cutter. Take it. Next, go into either bathroom door, open the vacant
stall, and walk in. If you wish, close the door and use the toilet, just
for kicks. Take some toilet paper, then leave the bathroom and exit the
floor.
I'm on level five. What's important here?
Being sure to stay away from the cages with the Kongoid arms sticking out
of them, go to the screen with the closet door. Walk up and push the button
by the door, then enter the janitor's closet. Look around to find a wastebasket
and a pair of old overalls. Take the basket, then try taking the overalls
and something will fall out of them. It's a lighter. Take the lighter,
then exit the floor.
How do I prevent the spiny black alien on level five from kissing me?
Well, first off, run away from him, then get into the elevator you come
to and press a button before he can get you. If you get kissed by him,
you won't die right away, but will before the game ends.
I've been trapped on level two! How do I stop myself from falling in the
acid pit?
The old plumber's friend will help you out of this predicament. You'll
need to use the plunger from level three to keep you alive. Stand by the
left barrier and type "stick plunger to wall", but wait until
the edge of the floor is right by Roger's feet to press enter. Roger will
hang onto the plunger to save himself from falling in the acid. If you
stick the plunger on the wall too soon, Roger will tire from hanging on
it and fall in before the floor moves back into place. When the floor moves
back into its former place, type "let go".
I can't pass those darn robots charging on the walls!
Restore to a game where you haven't gone into a screen with robots yet.
Look at the ceiling; notice those sprinklers? If you could get them to
go off, they would short out the robots. You'll have to make a controlled
fire to set them off. Drop the toilet paper from level four into the wastebasket
from level five, then set the wastebasket down. Use the lighter from level
five to light the toilet paper. The small blaze in the basket will set
off the sprinklers, and the robots will become inoperative.
I made it to Sludge Vohaul's office, and Vohaul is ready to send the insurance
salesman clones to Xenon. What should I do?
Walk up the stairs and toward Vohaul.
Vohaul shrunk me and put me in a glass jar on his console! How do I get
out?
I hope you're carrying the glass cutter from level four. Type "use
glass cutter" to cut away a section of the jar and escape.
Now that I'm out of the jar, what should I do?
You're going to need to turn on Vohaul's keyboard (to the west) and use
it to return yourself to normal size.
Every time I try to go to Vohaul's keyboard, he crushes me with his fist!
What do I do?
Maybe it's really time that Sludge Vohaul departed from this universe.
You'll have to get rid of him. On the west side of the screen with the
jar is a vent that leads to Vohaul's life support system inside his console.
Walk up to the vent, and type "climb in vent". In the "life
support room", behind Vohaul's mechanical heart (pump), you should
notice a red emergency shut-off button. Push it, then climb out the vent.
Before Vohaul died, he set the clones to launch! What now?
Before you can abort the launch, you must return yourself to normal size.
The next hint will tell you how to abort the launch. Once Vohaul is dead,
walk one screen west and up to the on/off switch for his keyboard. Pull
the switch to turn the keyboard on, and the small readout will say "reduce
or enlarge?" Type "type enlarge", and Roger will stamp out
the word on the keys with his feet. After typing, go back to the jar and
get in it to be returned to normal size.
Now that I'm big again, how do I stop the salesmen clones from launching?
You have only seven minutes to, so hurry! Start by searching Vohaul's dead
body, and you'll turn up the code SHSR which he scratched on the back of
his hand. Now walk up to the flashing screen on Vohaul's console and look
at it. In the screen closeup, type "SHSR", and the launch will
be aborted.
What do I do once I've aborted the launch?
Being very careful, go up the flight of stairs leading east to the asteroid's
glass walkway tube.
While I was going through the glass tube, it broke and I suffocated!
Well of course you suffocated; anyone would if they breathed hard vacuum!
You'll need to protect yourself. At the beginning of the tube is a red
box installed on the wall. Open the box, and you'll get an emergency oxygen
mask. Wear the mask, then go through the tube.
I'm in a hallway with flashing lights. What next?
Head left until you see a screen with some doors and a droid.
When I tried to open one of the doors, that droid started chasing me!
Yep, it's going to have to for you to beat the game. In case you didn't
know, you have maybe between 35 and 40 minutes to get off the asteroid
fortress before it crashes into the surface of Labion. Walk to the screen
where the droid is guarding the doors, then let it chase you to the right.
Keep heading right, even after you've entered the shuttle bay, and you'll
finally come back to the screen with the doors, but this time from the
left side (this is what's known as a wrap-around). The Brainsuck droid
will not be there this time. Go over to the button by the rightmost door
and press it to open the escape pod, then type "enter pod" to
get in.
Once I'm in the escape pod, what do I do?
Well, you'd better blast out of the asteroid before it crashes, so don't
just sit there! Look around in the pod, then look at the control panel.
Press the Launch button on the panel to get off the Asteroid of Doom.
The pod is running out of oxygen! Help!
You have five minutes to perform the next actions, so don't panic too much,
unless you've already done nothing for awhile! Look around the pod, and
you'll notice a sleep chamber on the right wall. Walk over to the chamber,
open it, and get in. Roger will now be in suspended animation. You just
beat the game!
